CALTRAIN PENINSULA CORRIDOR ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT
San Mateo, CA

The Caltrain Electrification Project improved service times through faster acceleration and shorter headways, reduced air pollution and noise, and facilitated the future Downtown Rail Extension into downtown San Francisco's Transbay Transit Center.

The project electrified 51 miles of tracks between 4th and King Station and Tamien Station and installed a PTC management system along the tracks. Electrification improvements better addressed Peninsula commuters’ vision of increased service and improved travel times in an environmentally friendly and reliable way. These service improvements also helped accommodate increased system ridership through improved system operations.

Montez Group supported Modern Rail Systems (MRS), a major sub-contractor on the project, with administrative and document control services. Montez Group staff tracked all correspondence between the project owner and the contractor and ensured that all documents were filed, numbered, and tracked accurately and effectively. Montez Group also previously provided a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer on the project who worked to complete the contractor’s Verification and Validation Program.
