BART FARE GATES MODERNIZATION PROJECT
SF Bay Area, CA
The $90 million BART Fare Gate Modernization Project introduces next-generation fare gates designed to transform the transit experience across the BART system. These new advanced features, aim to deter fare evasion, improve accessibility, and enhance overall station aesthetics. The fare gates represent a significant technological and functional upgrade. Standing at a minimum height of 72 inches, the gates form a secure barrier that prevents fare evasion by making it difficult to push through, jump over, or maneuver under. In addition, advanced 3D sensors detect wheelchair users and those with bikes, strollers, or luggage, ensuring seamless accessibility. The gates also feature LED lighting to assist visually impaired riders and improve overall navigation.
Beyond accessibility, the new gates prioritize modernized aesthetics and operational reliability. With features designed to reduce system downtime and improve maintenance, the gates are expected to enhance the customer and public experiences of safety, which should encourage increased ridership.
Montez Group provided inspection services throughout the installation process, ensuring that all anchor bolts were installed in strict compliance with quality standards. Our inspectors conducted thorough inspections at each stage, verifying the accuracy and precision of the installation to ensure the structural integrity and long-term reliability of the new fare gates.
